Manchester City loom large as gap at the top closes...
Liverpool suffered a rare defeat, only their second of the Premier League season, as a spirited Arsenal kept their title hopes alive, with a 3 - 1 victory over the Reds on Sunday. Liverpool rarely threatened the Arsenal goal and failed to find any real rhythm or energy during the game.
The result meant Manchester City could cut the gap at the top of the table with victory over Brentford on Monday evening, which they duly did, winning 3 - 1. The result means City will go top if they win their game in hand.
Arsenal remain third, though they too closed the gap to Liverpool, whilst Aston Villa moved ahead of Tottenham, after thrashing bottom side Sheffield United 5 - 0. Tottenham started the weekend by throwing away a two-goal lead at Everton, to draw 2 - 2. The result didn't help either team, though Everton will be the happier of the two teams.
Manchester United secured an easy 3 - 0 victory over West Ham United, with the Hammers producing of their worst displays of the season. The result means the two teams swap positions in the league, with Man United now occupying 6th spot.
