Liverpool FC has today released a statement regarding the Anfield Road expansion, with work continuing to progress at pace, as the club looks forward to welcoming more fans to Anfield in the near future.
The expanded upper tier of the stand was opened to fans for the first time in December when Manchester United visited Anfield. The increased capacity saw a record 57,000 fans attend the game, Liverpool's largest crowd for over 50 years.
Similar crowds have been present at all the Reds home games since then, but fans are eager to know when the expansion will be complete.
Today's statement does not give a definitive date for the project completion, but it does suggest that Liverpool fans won't have to wait too much longer for the stand to be fully open.
Indeed, today's news suggests that a further phased opening of the new stand will be complete in time for the Reds' next home game against Burnley, on February 10th. Before then, further internal emergency conditions tests will need to be carried out by the club, as well as working with the City Council to obtain all relevant licenses.
No specific figure has been given for the possible capacity against Burnley, but somewhere around 59,000 would be a fair guess.
Once complete and fully opened, the expanded Anfield Road Stand will help push Anfield's capacity to 61,000, making it the 3rd largest stadium in the Premier League.
