Huge injury news ahead of Brighton game
Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi has confirmed that his side will be missing six key players for the game tomorrow at Anfield, including top goalscorer Joao Pedro.
Liverpool welcome Brighton to Anfield on Sunday, as the Reds begin their final push towards the Premier League title.
Brighton's visit is the first of five home games the Reds have left this season, with Jurgen Klopp and his players knowing they will probably need to win all their remaining games to lift the title again this season.
Klopp's poor record against Brighton
On paper, Brighton at home doesn't sound like the most difficult fixture, but Liverpool have struggled against the South Coast side in recent seasons, winning only one of the last seven meetings between the sides (drawing four and losing the other two).
At Anfield, Brighton are unbeaten in their last three visits, winning one and drawing two, meaning Klopp and his players will need to produce an excellent performance to pick up the three points.
Injuries could be key
With Liverpool's poor recent record against the Seagulls, Reds fans will take any advantage they can get, and hearing that Brighton will be without six key players for Sunday's game, will certainly have raised their expectations of a Liverpool victory, especially when one of those injured players is Brighton's top scorer - Joao Pedro.
The young Brazilian has scored nineteen goals in all competitions this season, before his recent spell on the sidelines. It had been expected that he would return for tomorrow's game, but Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi confirmed yesterday that he will not risk the forward, with games coming thick and fast over the next few weeks.
Milner misses out but Lallana may start
Liverpool and Brighton have swapped several players in recent seasons, with James Milner and Adam Lallana joining Brighton, and Alexis Mac Allister moving to Anfield.
Sadly for Milner, he is one of the players set to miss out through injury, though fellow midfielder Adam Lallana should be fit to start, in what could be his 100th match for Brighton.
Elsewhere, long-term absentees Solly Marsh and Kaoru Mitoma have been joined by Julio Enciso and Billy Gilmour, who picked up injuries in the recent international break.
Brighton Injury List
- Joao Pedro
- James Milner
- Solly Marsh
- Kaoru Mitoma
- Julio Enciso
- Billy Gilmour
