Jurgen Klopp nominated for Premier League Manager of the Season Award
Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp has been nominated for the Barclays Premier League 'Manager of the Season' Award, in recognition of his outstanding season with the Reds.
In what will be Klopp's final year at Anfield, after his shock decision to retire earlier in the season, the legendary German has guided the team to Carabao Cup Glory, and overseen a major overhaul of the team's midfield, all while dealing with an unprecedented injury crisis.
The Premier League title may have eluded him, but Jurgen Klopp can still achieve personal glory in his final season at Anfield, after being nominated for the Barclays Premier League 'Manager of the Season' Award.
After overseeing a massive overhaul of the team's midfield in the summer, Klopp shocked the footballing world when he announced that he would be retiring at the end of the season. Despite the news, Klopp inspired his Liverpool side to Carabao Cup Glory, beating Chelsea at Wembley in February, as well as overseeing an assault on the Premier League, FA Cup, and Europa League.
Although the Reds have fallen short in their title challenge, the season will best be remembered for Klopp's expert handling of an unprecedented injury crisis, that saw eleven first-team players miss most of January and February.
Despite this, Klopp found a way to keep winning games, promoting exciting Academy prospects into the first team and guiding them through the biggest games of their young careers. The pinnacle of this was the Carabao Cup Final, where Liverpool finished the game with five players under the age of 20, against a Chelsea team that cost over £1billion to put together.
Even when the team wasn't playing well, or went behind (which has happened all too often this season), Klopp has found a way to change the game and give Liverpool the belief that they can still win, with the team winning the most points from losing positions of any side in the league.
