Happy Birthday Robbie Fowler
Legendary Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler celebrates his 49th Birthday today.
Reds Legend Robbie Fowler, who scored 183 goals for the club, and is widely regarded as one of the most naturally gifted finishers in the club's history, is celebrating his 49th Birthday today.
Born in Toxteth (Liverpool), Fowler grew up as an Everton supporter, but it was Liverpool who secured his signature, when he joined the club as a youth team player, in the summer of 1991. Two years later, in 1993, Fowler made his senior Liverpool debut, against Fulham in the League Cup, where he also scored his first Liverpool goal. Two weeks later, in the second leg, Fowler scored all five Liverpool goals!
Over the next eight years, Fowler would score 171 goals for the Reds, breaking numerous goalscoring records, and earning himself the nickname of 'God' amongst the Anfield faithful. Sadly Fowler left Liverpool in 2001 (after a falling out with then Manager Gerard Houllier), moving first to Leeds United, and then Manchester City.
Then, in 2006, Fowler made a fairytale return to Anfield, scoring his first goal against Fulham, the same team he scored his first goal against 13 years earlier. Fowler would go on to make another 39 appearances and score 12 goals, bringing his totals to 369 Liverpool appearances and 183 goals.
After leaving Liverpool for the second time, Fowler played for Cardiff City, Blackburn Rovers, North Queensland Fury, Perth Glory, and Muangthong United. In total, he played 590 games, scoring 254 goals, and is regarded as one of the greatest strikers of the Premier League era.
