Liverpool vs Sheffield United preview: kick-off, team news, TV channel

Fresh off their narrow victory over Brighton & Hove Albion at the weekend, Liverpool are back in action on Thursday evening, as struggling Sheffield United visit Anfield in the Premier League.  Can Liverpool secure another victory to move them closer to the Premier League Title?

Sheffield United are the visitors to Anfield on Thursday evening, as Jurgen Klopp leads his Liverpool team in another must-win match.  Fresh off their 2 - 1 victory over Brighton at the weekend, Liverpool will be looking to put more pressure on Arsenal and Man City, as the Premier League title race enters its final few weeks.  Jurgen Klopp will be looking for his 301st win as Liverpool boss, while Salah, Diaz, and Nunez will be looking for more goals against a struggling Sheffield defence that has already conceded 77 goals this season.

Team News

Liverpool:
Liverpool's injury list is finally beginning to improve, with Stefan Bajcetic and Curtis Jones back in full training. Jones has a chance of making the squad for Thursday's match, while Ibrahima Konate and Andy Robertson should be back in contention as well.  Elsewhere, long-term absentees Thagio, Alisson, Matip, Jota, Alexander-Arnold, and Doak remain sidelined, but Klopp will be much happier with the health of his squad.

Sheffield United:
Sheffield United head into the game on the back of a poor run of results that has seen them rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table.  Manager Chris Wilder has his own injury problems with as many as nine first-team players unavailable, with Max Lowe, Rhys Norrington-Davies, Chris Basham, John Egan, George Baldock, and Rhian Brewster all missing out.

Predicted Liverpool Lineup

Jurgen Klopp will stick with his preferred 4-3-3 formation.

Kelleher, Bradley, Van Dijk (C), Konate, Tsimikas, Endo, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Diaz, Nunez, Salah,

With more players back in full training, Klopp has plenty of options, but the one area he will not change is the goalkeeper, with Caoimhin Kelleher continuing in goal.  There is a decision to make about the left-back and left-sided centre-back, but otherwise, Klopp will likely stick with the same XI that started against Brighton on Sunday.  Personally, I would play Konate alongside Van Dijk with Tsimikas at left-back, but Klopp may save Konate for the Manchester United game at the weekend, and play Quansah on Thursday instead.  The midfield and front three pick themselves unless Klopp opts to rest players ahead of the United match, but with Liverpool looking to improve their goal difference, I think Klopp will go with his strongest XI for Thursday's game.

LFC - Back On Our Perch Score Prediction

Jurgen Klopp will be hoping for plenty of goals against Sheffield United, as goal difference could play a big part in deciding this season's title race.  Arsenal beat United 6 - 0 a few months ago, so Liverpool will be looking to do the same, to boost their goal difference and add more pressure onto Arsenal and Man City.  I think Liverpool will play with a high tempo and over-run United, with Salah, Nunez, and Diaz all scoring.

Liverpool to win 5 - 0
