Liverpool injury news ahead of Southampton game

Jurgen Klopp gave his pre-match press conference this afternoon, and provided a number of updates on Liverpool's injured players ahead of the FA Cup match against Southampton.

Jurgen Klopp has provided updates on a number of injured players ahead of tomorrow's FA Cup Fifth Round clash against Southampton.  Speaking to the media, Klopp confirmed that most of the players who missed Sunday's Final will again be missing on Wednesday evening, with late fitness tests for Mo Salah, Darwin Nunez, and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Klopp confirmed that the team will have a meeting on Tuesday afternoon, before a light training session in the late afternoon.  After that, he will have a better idea of who will be available for the Southampton game.  Klopp also confirmed that only the youngsters trained on Monday, as everyone involved in the Cup Final had a rest day at the AXA Training Centre.

Speaking specifically about Ryan Gravenberch and Wataru Endo, who both left Wembley on crutches, Klopp confirmed that Gravencerch has ligament damage and will miss 2 - 3 games minimum.  Endo has a bruised foot, and will need to be assessed nearer the game.  Klopp also confirmed that Harvey Elliott was limping at the end of the Wembley Final, and may need to be rested / protected in the coming days.

If we have 11 players, we will play!

As he did before the Carabao Cup Final, Klopp confirmed that if he can field eleven players, which he can, then Liverpool will give 100% to win the match.  Klopp also thanked the fans for the amazing atmosphere at Wembley on Sunday, and asked the fans visiting Anfield on Wednesday evening to again create a brilliant atmosphere, to give his players an advantage over Southampton.

Which players are still injured?

The following players will definately miss the Southampton game:

Thiago, Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Jota, Jones, Bajcetic, Doak, Gravenberch

The following players will have late fitness tests ahead of the match:

Endo, Elliott, Salah, Nunez, Szoboszlai

    It hard to believe one team can put out a team with so many injuries. But this is liverpool. Never underestimate what we can achieve.
