Liverpool learn Europa League Last 16 opponents

The draw for the Europa League Round of 16 has taken place this morning in Nyon, Switzerland, with Liverpool drawing Sparta Prague.

The draw for the Last 16 of the Europa League has taken place this morning, with Liverpool playing Sparta Prague of the Czech Republic.

Whilst there are no easy games in European football, the draw means Liverpool have avoided playing AC Milan or Bayer Leverkusen, who are both seen as the biggest threats to Liverpool winning the competition.

The draw took place at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, with the draw overseen by former Republic of Ireland and Manchester United defender John O'Shea.  The Sparta Prague vs Liverpool match was the first drawn out of the bag, meaning Red's fans did not have to wait long to discover our next opponents.

The tie is played over two legs, with the first leg to be played on the 7th of March, and the second leg (at Anfield) will be played on the 14th of March.

Liverpool reached the last 16 by winning their Europa League group, whilst Sparta Prague qualified by beating Galatasaray 4 - 1 in the Knock-Out round last night.

Liverpool last played Sparta Prague in 2011, when Kenny Dalglish was the manager.
