Liverpool welcome Newcastle United to Anfield in the first game of 2024. What happened the last time the teams met?
Liverpool seucred a fantastic 2 - 1 victory over Newcastle at St James Park earlier in the season, despite playing most of the game with ten men, after Captain Virgil van Dijk was sent off. Darwin Nunez was the hero with two late goals.
Liverpool have not lost to Newcastle in their last 14 meetings, with Newcastle not tasting victory at Anfield since a League Cup triumph in 1995.
Last time out
Liverpool moved top of the table with their 2 - 0 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor on Boxing Day, whilst Newcaslte suffered another heavy defeat, going down 3 - 1 to Nottingham Forest at St James Park.
