How many goals can Salah score?

How many goals can Salah score?

With our Egyptian King breaking records almost every week, it begs the question - just how many goals could Salah score by the end of his career?

Last weekend saw Mohamad Salah break two new records, scoring his 200th goal for Liverpool, and his 150th Premier League goal.  Salah now sits 5th in LFC's list of all time top scorers, just 28 goals behind Billy Liddell in 4th place.  Ian Rush leads the way with 346 goals, but just how many goals could Salah score if he stays with Liverpool?

Answering such a question is extremely difficult.  Despite taking great care of his body, injuries will at some point start to have an effect on Salah's game.  Then there is the question of who he plays alongside, the Manager and how many competitions LFC are in each season.

Hopefully Jurgen Klopp will remain as Manager at Liverpool for a few more seasons, such is his new found enjoyment of Liverpool 2.0.  As for who Salah is playing alongside, with Diaz, Jota, Nunez, Gakpo, Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, Gravenberch, Alisson, Alexander-Arnold and Elliott in the Liverpool squad, we should be competing for league and European titles for many seasons to come.

Salah's goalscoring record so far

2017/18 season - 52 games - 44 goals
2018/19 season - 52 games - 27 goals
2019/20 season - 48 games - 23 goals
2020/21 season - 51 games - 31 goals
2021/22 season - 51 games - 31 goals
2022/23 season - 51 games - 30 goals

TOTAL - 305 games - 186 goals

Predictions for the coming seasons

2023/24 season - 54 games - 33 goals     (38 league games / 2 FA Cup games / 3 Carabao Cup games / 11 Europa League games)
2024/25 season - 50 games - 30 goals     (36 league games / 2 FA Cup games / 2 Carabao Cup games / 10 Champions League games)
2025/26 season - 48 games - 28 goals     (34 league games / 2 FA Cup games / 2 Carabao Cup games / 10 Champions League games)
2026/27 season - 40 games - 23 goals     (30 league games / 2 FA Cup games / 0 Carabao Cup games / 8 Chamions League games)
2027/28 season - 36 games - 19 goals     (28 league games / 2 FA Cup games / 0 Carabao Cup games / 6 Champions League games)

TOTAL - 533 games - 319 goals

As you can see above, if Salah were to stay at Liverpool for another four seasons after the end of the 23/24 season, by which time he would be 36, he could potentially have played more the 500 games for Liverpool, and have scored in excess of 300 goals for the club.  That would leave his short of Ian Rush's record haul, but comfortably second on the LFC all-time goalscorers list.

What do you think?  Will Salah stay at LFC that long, and will he continue his goal scoring exploits until his 36th birthday? Let us know in the comments below.
