Liverpool's new midfielder, Alexis Mac Allister, will face off against his older brother Kevin on Thursday evening, as Union SG travel to Anfield for the Europa League.

When the draw for the Europa League took place, back on the 1st September, many fans were intrigued by one particular matchup in Group E.

Liverpool vs Union Saint-Gilloise.

Not because Union SG are heavyweights of European competition, not even that it will be the first time that the two teams have met, but because it will pit brother vs brother.

Now, having two brothers play professional football at European level is quite unusual.  Having two brothers play at European level, and face each other in a match is vary rare.  But what makes this matchup uniquely rare, is that both only moved to their current clubs during the summer transfer window.

24 year old Alexis joined Liverpool from Brighton for £35million.  Kevin joined Union SG from Argentinos Juniors.  Who would have thought that within a couple of months of their transfers, the two siblings would face each other on the famous turf at Anfield.
