Liverpool claim first pre-season win, beating Crystal Palace 2-0
Liverpool ran out comfortable 2-0 winners against Crystal Palace in front of a capacity crowd in Singapore to get their pre-season back on track.
Much like the game against Man United 2 days earlier, Jurgen Klopp used the game as a glorified training session, making 11 changes at half time and then a further 9 changes in the second half, ensuring that all 32 senior players got a fair chance to impress, and get much needed minutes into everyone’s legs.
Liverpool took the lead in the 12th minute through Jordan Henderson, with Harvey Elliott and James Milner involved in the build up. Mohamad Salah then doubled Liverpool’s advantage just 1 minute after the break with a 20-yard left footed effort.
As the game wore on, and players grew tired, both sides had chances to score, but a combination of good goalkeeping and poor finishing meant the game finished 2-0.
Liverpool have now ended their Asian tour and are heading back to Merseyside to step up preparations for their next match, against RB Leipzig on 21st July 2022.
