Milner awarded MBE

Liverpool Vice-Captain James Milner has been honoured by the Queen in the latest Birthday Honours List, receiving an MBE for his services to football and charity.  It is the same Honour that Captain Jordan Henderson received last year.

Milner has been a model professional since his career began way back in 2002.  In the subsequent 20 years he has played for 6 different teams and amassed a total of 812 senior club appearances.  He also has 61 international caps for England.  During his career he has won every club honour available and it is well documented how influential he is in the Liverpool dressing room, and what a role model he is for the younger members of the squad.

Off the pitch Milner is no less influential, setting up the James Milner Foundation (JMF) to help promote healthy recreation for young people in the UK.  The foundation also provides financial support for young people to help with health and education.

Everyone at 'LFC - Back On Our Perch' would like to extend their congratulations and appreciation to Milner.  The Vice-Captain is out of contract in the summer but given his levels of fitness, professionalism and work with the young players we are sure that Jurgen Klopp will want to keep Milner around for another year or two.  We will bring you any news of a new deal for Milner as and when it happens.
