Liverpool FC yesterday confirmed that talismanic manager, Jurgen Klopp, had signed a 2-year contract extension, tying him to the club until the summer of 2026.  News of the new contract came as a shock to many, with Klopp previously stating that his intention was to leave Liverpool at the end of his previous deal in 2024.  Indeed, many Liverpool fans were already beginning to look ahead to 2024 with dread, as the almost impossible task of replacing Klopp grew closer with each passing month.  Now however, fans can relax and enjoy the end of the  current season, in what is sure to go down in Liverpool folklore, regardless of how man titles we eventually win.

Few details of the new deal have been released - but that is to be expected, as Liverpool and Klopp like to keep their business in house.  What is certain though is that money has never been top of Klopp's priorities.  Of course he will be earning a huge salary, but Klopp is more interested in having the support of the board, knowing that his vision for taking the club forward will be supported, whether that is with contract renewals, player transfers or improvements to the training facilities.  The speed at which the new deal was concluded suggests that Klopp has received all the assurances he needs from FSG that his plans will be implemented, and that should give Liverpool fans as much joy and encouragement as Klopp's new deal itself.
