Liverpool’s path to Champions League glory clear

Semi-final and Final opponents now confirmed as Liverpool bid for 7th Champions League Title.

Liverpool's path to Champions League glory became clear this week as as the Reds dispatched Benfica 6-4 on aggregate on Wednesday night.  The win sealed Liverpool's place in the Semi-finals of this years competition.  It is the 12th time Liverpool have reached the Semi-finals of the competition.

Liverpool with now face Villareal, after the Spanish side shocked Bayern Munich on Tuesday to win 2-1 on aggregate.

Whilst no Semi-final is ever easy, Villareal would appear to be the weakest of the teams left in the competition. That said, as well as overcoming Bayern, Villareal have also defeated Juventus on their way to the Semi's.  With Jurgen Klopp in charge, we can be sure that there will be no complacency in the Liverpool team heading into the Semi-final, and, if Liverpool perform to their usual high standards a place in the Final should be  expected.

On the other side of the draw, Manchester City overcame Atletico Madrid in a bad tempered game to squeeze through 1-0.  City will now face another Spanish team in Real Madrid, who eventually defeated Chelsea after extra-time.

It will be tough to call a winner from the City - Real game, but the footballing gods might be pitting Liverpool and City against each other for another title, just as they have been battling all season for the Premier League Title and will meet on Saturday in the FA Cup Semi-final.
