Discover the major events that have happened in Liverpool FC's history on 8th July.  Match Reports and scores, player transfers, injuries, contract renewals, birthdays, sackings and much more!

2023 : Liverpool's Spanish midfielder Thiago was linked with a move away from the club, after reports emerged of 'sizeable' bids from teams in Saudi Arabia and Turkey.  Several prominent reporters claimed that 'something concrete would happen in the next 7 days', with Klopp and Liverpool willing to cash-in on the experienced midfielder to help fund additional moves in the transfer market.

2022 : Jurgen Klopp confirmed that his, and other players families, had been directly caught up in the trouble outside the Champions League Final in May 2022, that saw Liverpool fans wrongly and shamefully attacked and gassed by French Police, as they tried to peacefully enter the stadium.  Klopp echoed many earlier comments that it was only through 'luck' that the mis-management of the event had not led to a crush and possible loss of life.  French Authorities would belatedly issue an apology nearly a year later for errors made on the handling of the showpiece event.

2021 : Liverpool maanger Jurgen Klopp confirmed that he had rejected the chance to re-sign Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho, after the player was told he has no future at Barcelona.  Liverpool had sold the playmaker to Barcelona just 3 years earlier for a record £143million.

2020 : Liverpool's Championship winning season got better with another victory, this time 3-1 away at Brighton.  The 34th game of the Covid-19 delayed season saw Liverpool visit a determined and positive Brighton team, but goals from Salah (2) and Jordan Henderson proved too much for the south coast team.  The result meant Liverpool had amassed a total of 92 points from 34 games, as the Reds looked to create more history with the highest ever Premier League points total.

2019 : Fomer Liverpool and Manchester City forward Mario Balotelli landed himself in trouble, after paying a man £2000 to drive his moped into the sea, in a drunken dare, whilst on holiday in Italy.  Despite laughing and joking with the man and onlookers at the time, Balotelli was later reported to local Police, who cautioned the star for gambling and criminal solicitation.
