2023 : Young Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones put in a 'Man of the Match' performance for England Under-21's, as the young lions reached the Final of the Under-21 European Championship. Jones was composed in possession, distributed the ball well and won tackles, as he played the full 90 minutes of Englands 3-0 Semi-Final victory over Isreal. Harvey Elliott also came on for the last 16 minutes of the match.
2022 : Cult Hero Divock Origi signed for AC Milan, following his release from LFC at the end of the 2021/22 season. Origi spent a trophy laden 8 years at Anfield, winning every major trophy available. Origi became a fan favourite for his 2 goals in the stunning 4-0 comeback victory over Barcelona, in the Semi-Finals of the Champions League, and also scored the second goal in the final against Tottenham. Origi also scored 6 goals against Everton, including a vital 95th minute winner in the 2018 Merseyside Derby at Anfield. Origi scored a total of 41 goals in 175 appearances for Liverpool.
2021 : Former Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho was officially put up for sale by Barcelona, with the Catalan club willing to sell for £21million, just 3 years after paying Liverpool £143million - by far the largest transfer fee the Reds have ever received. The move represented another low point in the players career since leaving Liverpool, having failed to impress at Barcelona, or on loan at Bayern Munich. Coutinho would eventually end up at Aston Villa, playing for Reds Legend Steven Gerrard - who was the Villans manager at the time.
2020 : Liverpool welcomed Aston Villa to an empty Anfield Stadium, as the 2019/20 Premier League season slowly headed towards its Covid-delayed conclusion. Having lost nearly 2 months to enforced lockdowns as the Covid-19 Pandemic took hold, the Premier League was forced to play much later into the summer, resulting in several games in July. The Reds had already been crowned Premier League Champions by the time this game took place, but Liverpool still ran out easy 2-0 winners, thanks to goals from Sadio Mane and Curtis Jones.
2019 : Liverpool forward Sadio Mane was the hero for Senegal - despite missing a penalty - as his early goal was enough for Senegal to beat Uganda, and proceed to the Quarter-Finals of the African Cup of Nations. Mane's penalty miss was his second of the tournament, and the second game in a row he has missed from the penalty spot.
