2023 : Liverpool confirmed the departure of club Captain, Jordan Henderson, to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq, for an inital fee of £12million.  The 33-year old midfielder signed a three year deal, worth a reported £700,000 a week.  The move also sparked criticism from many, with Henderson having been a vocal supporter of the LGBTQ+ community.  However, homosexuality is illegal in Saudi Arabia, and many were left wondering how the move would affect Henderson and his ability to continue to support LGBTQ+ people.
