2023 :

2022 : Goalkeeper Alison Becker and forward Darwin Nunez both featured at the Qatar 2022 World Cup on this day.  Nunez got his 14th International cap for Uruguay in a goalless draw with South Korea, whilst Becker won his 57th International cap for Brazil, as he started ahead of Manchester City keeper Ederson, as Brazil began their World Cup bid against Serbia.

2021 : Liverpool made it 5 wins out of 5 in the Champions League group stages, beating Porto 2-0 at Anfield.  Despite Porto creating chances in the first half (with future Liverpool player Luis Diaz causing the Liverpool defence lots of problems), it was Liverpool who took control of the game in the second half.  Midfielder Thiago scored a stunning long range effort from outside the box in the 52nd minute, before Mohamad Salah sealed the victory in the 70th minute after an assist from Henderson.  Liverpool would create history a week later by becoming the first English team to win all 6 Champions League group games in one season.

2020 : Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp heaped praise on youngster Curtis Jones.  In a wide ranging interview, Klopp spoke of his respect and admiration for Jones, stating "Very, very positive. Not too surprised. He's an exceptional talent. The best thing is that his personal development is even more impressive than his sports development. He made the next step. Pleased for him and good for us as well."  Klopp was speaking after Jones had made an impressive start to the 2020-21 season, starting 4 games.

2019 : Liverpool Ladies slipped to a narrow 1-0 defeat to Arsenal Ladies in the Women's Super League.  The result meant Liverpool Ladies had lost 4 games in a row and were bottom of the League with just a single point.
