On This Day - LFC History - 22nd July

2023 : Liverpool Captain Jordan Henderson completed a medical ahead of a £12million move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq.  According to media reports, Henderson would earn a staggering £700,000 a week from the Saudi club.

2022 : Long time Liverpool Chairman and majority shareholder, David Moores, died on the 22nd July 2022, aged 76, just a few weeks after his wife Marge also passed away.  Moores became Chairman of LFC on 18th September 1991.  He was also the majority Shareholder.  Despite the Moores family having owned a share of Liverpool FC for over 50 years, Moores began to see the need for outside investment, and on the 6th February 2007 Moores sold his shares to American duo Tom Hicks and George Gillett.  As part of the deal Moores became Honorary Life President, a role he continued until his death.  Sadly for Moores and LFC, the ownership of Hicks and Gillett was to be one of the worst periods in LFC's history, and Moores often spoke of his regret at selling to the Americans.
