2023 : Preston North End completed a second raid on Liverpool, taking young striker Layton Stewart in a permanent move.  Several Championship clubs were interested in taking Stewart on loan for the 2023/24 season, but the offer of a 3-year contract and a small fee for Liverpool, was enough to seal the deal for Preston.  Stewart linked up with fellow Liverpool youngster, Calvin Ramsey, who joined Preston on a season-long loan, in a bid to get more first team football.

2022 :

2021 : Scottish left back Tommy Leishman died.  Leishman helped Liverpool win the Second Division Title - and promotion back to the First Division - in 1962.  Sadly Leishman only made 11 top-flight appearances for LFC, before moving back to Scotland with Hibernian.  In all, Leishman made 118 appearances for the Reds.  Leishman also has the honour of scoring LFC's first League Cup goal.

2020 :

2019 : Goalkeeper, Andy Lonergan, made his one and only appearance for the Reds, in a 2 - 1 defeat to Sevilla in a pre-season friendly.

2018 :

2017 : Left back Andy Robertson signed for Liverpool, joining from relegated Hull City.  The initial fee was £8million. Robertson would go on to become one of the world's best left backs, winning every title available with the Reds.  On the same day, midfielder Kevin Stewart, joined Hull from Liverpool for £6million.

2016 :

2015 :

2014 : Spanish winger, Iago Aspas, joined Sevilla on loan after a disastrous spell with LFC.  Aspas arrived in June 2013, from Celta de Vigo, for £7.7million, but scored just one goal in fifteen appearances.

2013 :

2012 : Brendan Rogers took charge of LFC for the first time, in a pre-season friendly in Toronto. The Reds drew the game 1-1 with Toronto FC.

2011 :

2010 : Young Scottish centre-back, Danny Wilson, signed from Rangers for an initial fee of £2million.  Despite a strong first season with the Reds, in which he played 9 times, Wilson failed to hold down a regular first team spot, and after a series of loans, joined Hearts in May 2013.

2009 :

2008 :

2007 : Legendary striker Robbie Fowler signed for Cardiff City, after scoring 12 goals in 39 appearances during his second spell with LFC.  Fowler managed to score 6 goals for Cardiff, but injury once again limited his playing time to just 16 games.

2006 : Former goalkeeper, Bert Slater, died at the age of 70.  Slater made 111 appearances for LFC, winning the Secnd Division Title in 1962.  He left LFC the same summer.

2005 :

2004 : Rafa Benitez took charge of Liverpool for the first time, as the Reds beat Wrexham 2 - 1 at the Racecourse Ground.  Young French attacker Anthony Le Tallec scored both goals.

2003 :

2002 : Liverpool pulled out of a deal to sign Lee Bowyer.  The midfielder was a talented footballer, but was often controversial and outspoken.  On announcing the deal had been scraped, an LFC statement said that the club were not convinced the player had the desire or hunger to play for Liverpool.

2001 : Future Red, El-Hadji Diouf, netted as Senegal thumped Namibia 5 - 0 in a World Cup qualifier.

2000 :

1999 :

1998 : Norwegian right back, Veggard Heggem, arrived at Anfield from Rosenborg for £3,5million.  Heggem has the honour, of being the only player signed by the joint management team of Gerard Houllier and Roy Evans.  Sadly, despite his potential, injuries restricted Heggem to just 65 appearances over 5 years.
