2023 : Liverpool's final home game of the 2022/23 season ended in disappointment, as the Reds could only draw 1-1 with a stubborn Aston Villa side.  Needing a win to keep alive any hopes of Champions League qualification, the Reds fell behind in the first half, with Bobby Firmino, making his final appearance at Anfield, scoring a fairytale late goal to end his Reds career on a personal high.  Liverpool also saw a Cody Gakpo goal controversially ruled out by VAR.  After the match the players took the customomary lap of honour, before Bobby Firmino and James Milner recieved guards of honour at a presentation ceremony to mark their extraordinary Liverpool careers.  Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain were also honoured as all 4 players depart Liverpool at the end of the season.
