2023 : Liverpool's poor 2022-23 season continued as they suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat at rivals Manchester City.  Despite taking the lead through a Mohamad Salah goal after 17 minutes, City were soon level, and overpowered Liverpool in the second half, as the defensive problems that had plagued the Reds all season were once again exposed.
