2023 : Liverpool finally completed the signing of a midfielder, although it was a left-field choice that no-one saw coming, as 30-year old Japanese international Wataru Endo joined from German side Stuttgart.  Endo had been Stuttgart's Captain for the past 2 seasons, as well as Captaining his national team.  The deal to bring the experienced midfielder to Anfield was £16million upfront, rising to £20million with add-ons.
