2023 : Liverpool began their 2023/24 Premier League campaign with a 1-1 draw away at Chelsea.  Liverpool took the lead in the 18th minute through Luis Diaz, before Chelsea equalised shortly before half time.  Both teams had goals ruled out for offside by VAR, before Liverpool were denied a clear penalty (for handball) by VAR in the 78th minute.
