Kaide Gordon signs new long-term contract
Young attacking midfielder Kaide Gordon has committed his future to Liverpool after signing a new long-term contract with the Reds.
The new deal caps a fantastic week for the youngster after he scored two goals as Liverpool Under-21s came from behind to defeat Crystal Palace in the Premier League 2 Play-Offs.
Kaide Gordon has been rewarded for his excellent recent form, by signing a new contract at Anfield, as the club looks to secure the long-term futures of its brightest academy prospects.
Gordon, who joined LFC from Derby County in February 2021, signed the new deal at the AXA Training Centre on Friday, to cap an excellent week in which the midfielder scored two goals, as Liverpool Under-21s produced a stunning comeback to defeat Crystal Palace.
Gordon's two goals - scored at the start of the second half - sparked a wonderful comeback from the young Reds, who now face Tottenham Hotspur in the Quarter-Finals of the Premier League 2 play-offs.
The new deal is also a reward for Gordon's hard work and dedication, in recovering from a series of muscular problems (linked to growing pains), that saw the youngster miss nearly 18 months of action, before his return to training earlier this season.
Had it not been for the extended injury layoff, Gordon would likely have played his way into Jurgen Klopp's first-team squad, having made his senior Liverpool debut in September 2021, against Norwich City in the Carabao Cup, the youngster was tipped for great things, and became Liverpool's youngest ever scorer in the FA Cup, when he scored against Shrewsbury Town in the same season.
Gordon and many other Academy prospects will have a chance to impress new Head Coach Arne Slot when the Dutchman takes over from Jurgen Klopp in the coming weeks, with Liverpool set to tour the USA during pre-season, before embarking on a new era next season.
