Injury Update: Scans show Conor Bradley could play again this season
Jurgen Klopp could use some good news right now, so reports that Conor Bradley's ankle injury is not as bad as first feared will certainly be welcomed at Anfield.
Young right-back Conor Bradley may still feature again this season after scans have shown his ankle injury is not as bad as first feared.
The youngster, who has been the Reds starting right-back in the absence of Trent Alexander-Arnold, fell awkwardly minutes into the second half of the recent game against Crystal Palace, twisting his ankle in the process. After receiving treatment on the ground, Bradley had to be helped from the field, with Jurgen Klopp expressing fears that the injury may be serious.
Indeed, early reports in the hours after the game suggested Bradley had damaged his ankle ligaments, leading many to suggest that he would miss the rest of the season (which ends in mid-May).
However, according to Sky Sports News, scans of his ankle have provided positive news, with the damage not as serious as everyone feared. The news is yet to be confirmed by Jurgen Klopp or the club, but speaking after the match Klopp said "I heard a little bit that it's settled quite quickly", which would seem to support the reports from Sky Sports.
Jurgen Klopp is due to give his pre-match press conference at 7pm on Wednesday evening, ahead of Liverpool's crucial match against Atalanta, where he will hopefully have further positive news on Bradley's injury.
Conor Bradley enjoying a breakout season with Liverpool
Having enjoyed a hugely successful loan spell at Bolton Wanderers last season, many people had high hopes for Bradley this year, but few could have envisaged just how well he would perform when called upon by Jurgen Klopp, with the youngster seamlessly slotting into the Liverpool backline, in the absence of Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Arnold's injury, which has kept him out since January, has allowed Bradley to establish himself in the first team to such an extent, that many fans are already suggesting Bradley should remain the first-choice right-back moving forward, with Alexander-Arnold taking up a more advanced midfield role. Whether this happens will depend on Liverpool's next manager, and how he wants the team to play, but either way, Klopp's successor knows they will have two excellent right-back options to choose from next season.
