Team News
Liverpool:
Jurgen Klopp has a few tricky decisions to make ahead of Thursday's match against Sparta Prague. On the one hand, he will want to get a good result and keep building momentum as the club heads into a vital period of the season. On the other hand, he will not want to risk getting any more injuries ahead of Sunday's season-defining game with Man City at Anfield. Liverpool should have enough quality to overcome Sparta, regardless of who plays - though European away games are never easy.
Expect to see plenty of Academy players such as Bradley, Danns, Clark, McConnell, and Quansah in the squad, as Klopp looks to protect his senior players.
Sparta Prague:
In contrast to Liverpool, Sparta Prague has a fully fit squad, with right-back Andreas Vindheim the only player likely to miss Thursday's game.
Predicted Liverpool Lineup
Jurgen Klopp will stick with his preferred 4-3-3 formation.
Kelleher, Bradley, Van Dijk (C), Quansah, Tsimkas, Mac Allister, Endo, Clark, Elliott, Danns, Gakpo
Kelleher will once again play in goal, with a strong back-four in front of him, led by Van Dijk. If Liverpool are winning, expect to see Van Dijk taken off in the second half, to save his legs for Sunday. Mac Allister and Endo will provide the experience in midfield, alongside the energy of Clark. Again, I think both Mac Allister and Endo will come off at some point during the game to give them a rest. Up front, Diaz is looking a bit jaded, which is understandable after the minutes he has played recently, so he should be rested, with Elliott, Danns, and Gakpo leading the line. I expect to see Koumas come on at some point, probably for Gakpo.
LFC - Back On Our Perch Score Prediction
European games are always difficult to predict, especially with Klopp likely to play several youngsters in the starting XI. Liverpool should have the quality, and confidence, to cope with Prague, but even if we lose the game, we will have more than enough firepower to beat them at Anfield in a week. I don't think that will be necessary though, and can see Bobby Clark or Jayden Danns being the hero as they continue their development under Klopp.
Liverpool to win 3 - 0
