- Eleven first-team stars still missing through injury
- Numerous players played 120 minutes against Chelsea just 72 hours ago
- Academy players ready to step into the starting XI
- Klopp could field one of LFC's youngest-ever teams for tonight's game
Liverpool take on Southampton at Anfield tonight, just 72 hours after our amazing Carabao Cup Final victory over Chelsea, and with up to eleven first-team players still missing through injury, Jurgen Klopp will once again be putting his faith in his young Academy graduates.
The Red's Starting XI could feature as many as five teenagers, whilst other young players such as Jarell Quansah and Caoimhin Kelleher will also be called upon.
So who do we think will start the game tonight?
Kelleher will once again start in goal, after his heroics on Sunday. The back four will likely feature Kostas Tsimikas, Jarell Quansah, Virgil Van Dijk, and Conor Bradley, whilst in midfield, Alexis Mac Allister will provide the experience, with youngsters Bobby Clark and James McConnell either side of him. Up front, Klopp will probably go with Cody Gakpo as the senior player (despite only being 23), with Jayden Danns and Lewis Koumas completing the eleven.
Klopp will be hoping to have Mo Salah, Darwin Nunez, and Dominik Szoboszlai back from injury, but all three, together with Luis Diaz, Ibrahama Konate, and Andy Robertson will likely start on the bench.
