Jurgen Klopp gives injury update during press conference

As expected, Jurgen Klopp used today's pre-match press conference to provide updates on the club's numerous injured players, including Alisson, Jota, Jones and Alexander-Arnold.

  • Jurgen Klopp took part in Luton Town press conference earlier today
  • The Reds Manager gave updates on injuries to key players including Jota and Jones
  • Klopp says the situation is "not great"
  • Key players will miss the Carabao Cup Final

As expected, Jurgen Klopp spent a large part of today's pre-match press conference answering questions about Liverpool's injured players.  LFC - Back On Our Perch has compiled the most important quotes from today's news conference.

Jurgen Klopp on Liverpool's current injury situation,

"Not great, definitely not. I would like to sit here and say we have absolutely no issues but obviously, we have some."

"So, not available is obviously Ali, that's a muscle injury where we don't know exactly how long it takes but definitely not for the foreseeable time coming back."

"Then we have Diogo with a knee issue, is ruled out. Curtis, with a bone ligament issue, ruled out."

"And then we have the others where we will deal with it day by day with muscle things. We will see for tomorrow. You see the line-up early enough and then you can see who made it and who didn't make it. That's it pretty much."

"All the little bit longer-term like Trent and Dom, they are on their way back but not in team training yet, so that means they are not available as well. That's the situation, let me say it like that."

Jurgen Klopp, on the challenges of facing Luton Town,

"What I said after the game, as long as we have 11 players, we will go for it, and that's exactly the idea. It takes with the boys day by day and with the games definitely game by game."

"Tomorrow night is an incredibly important game for us against a really good side. I'm not sure you will ask about Luton, so that's why I start talking about them because the job Rob is doing there is insane."

"I'm not sure it's really respected enough that a team with the amount of points they had at the beginning of the season making such a footballing development, I'm not sure I saw that before."

On when injured players might return to training,

"With Diogo, it will obviously take rather months.  It's with the injuries as well, so like you have important days. So, day five, day 10, they are always important days when you then judge the situation again because nobody reacts in the same way and it depends on the pain level they still have and stuff like this."

"I couldn't give you a timeframe even if I wanted to, so that's just how it is. When you don't have these players available, it makes no sense as well to say, 'OK, they will not be in before...'

"How I said, they all react different to different issues and that's what we want to take this time."
