Liverpool continued their impressive march towards the quadruple, with a routine victory over Norwich City at Anfield yesterday. The result saw Liverpool progress to the Fifth Round of the FA Cup, where they have been handed a favourable home tie against Watford or Southampton.
Watford and Southampton drew 1 - 1 on Sunday, with Watford looking on course for the victory, before an 89th minute equaliser from Stuart Armstrong earned Southampton a replay. That replay will take place on Tuesday 6th February 2024, meaning Liverpool will not know the exact identity of their next opponent until then.
The Fifth Round match at Anfield will take place on Wednesday 28th February 2024, with kick-off planned for 7.45pm. This may change if the game is selected for TV coverage, however, it is likely that the Luton vs Manchester City match will be selected instead.
Whilst Jurgen Klopp will not take either opponent lightly, he will also probably use the game to rotate his squad, keeping faith with the younger members of the squad that have stepped up so well already this season.
