Chelsea proved too strong for a depleted Middlesbrough side, as they ran out comfortable 6 - 1 winners at Stamford Bridge last night, to secure their place in the Carabao Cup Final.
Despite carrying a 1 - 0 lead into the second leg, Middlesbrough rarely threatened to cause an upset, with Chelsea scoring four first half goals to take control of the tie.
The result means there will be no fairytale ending for Middlesbrough, who must now focus on gaining promotion from the Championship. It also means that the Carabao Cup Final will once again be an all Premier League affair, with the second Semi Final between Liverpool and Fulham.
Chelsea await tonights winners...
Liverpool travel to Fulham later today, for the second Semi Final, with a narrow 2 - 1 lead from the first leg.
The Reds will need to start the game much quicker than they did in the first leg, otherwise Fulham will fancy their chances of causing an upset, especially with the Craven Cottage crowd behind them.
