Liverpool are in negotiations with several companies to become the clubs new main sponsor from 2023.
It is being reported that Liverpool are currently involved in negotiations to secure a new main sponsor for the start of the 2023-24 season. The reds current deal with Standard Chartered runs out next year and the Reds are looking to secure a new long term deal that reflects their rise of the top of the English and European game.
Standard Chartered have been the clubs main shirt sponsor since 2010, originally paying £10million per season. The partnership has been extended on several occasions, first increasing the deal to £20million per season and most recently to £40million per season. The relationship between Liverpool and Standard Chartered has been beneficial for both sides and coincides with the Reds return to the top under Jurgen Klopp. There is still the possibility that Standard Chartered could extend their deal for a 4th time, but with the Reds now in a much stronger bargaining position to push for a significantly larger financial deal, Standard Chartered may find the figures involved simply too large to continue.
Should Standard Chartered back away from any new deal, there would be no shortage of brands interested in, and capable of, paying the £80million a season Liverpool are looking for. After all, Liverpool are one of the best teams in World football right now, and with a historic season nearing its conclusion the Reds bargaining position is only likely to become stronger as more titles are added to the Anfield Trophy cabinet.
Reporter Alex Miller was one of the first to break the news that Liverpool are in talks for a new £80million kit sponsorship deal. Taking to Twitter the reporter stated:
“#LFC are in talks to secure a record £80m-a-year shirt sponsorship deal, sources told me this week.”
Miller used twitter to promote an article written for the Mail on Sunday. To read the full article please click here.
If Liverpool manage to secure such a huge financial deal it may well have a massive impact on the clubs summer transfer plans. Although the money would technically not arrive until next year, knowing that the deal was in place may give FSG the confidence to either strengthen the club with new signings, or more likely, enable the club to offer key players such as Salah and Mane new contracts, keeping our best players at the club for the foreseeable future.
