Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp, on his sides 2nd half performance : 

"We used now the information from the first half and tried to do better and did much better, everything was better. Then we created step by step, we were more in the game, we had our chances, we defended them better. A home game is actually an advantage, but when you are better in the first half and don’t score, it’s normal for humans that you get in kind of a rush. So it barely gets better or usually doesn’t get better in the second half, if you don’t score. And we felt more and more comfortable in that game and yeah, scored from a [free-kick] an own goal, which obviously you cannot plan."

Jurgen Klopp on squad players stepping up : 

"Wataru Endo was not here tonight, Dom Szoboszlai was not here tonight, Andy Robertson was not here tonight, Kostas Tsimikas was not here tonight, Thiago Alcantara was not here tonight, Stefan Bajcetic was not here tonight, Joel Matip was not here tonight. So, that’s a really good football team we missed. And if I forgot somebody, sorry! Football is like that. Sometimes you have them all available, it’s pretty rare, and sometimes you don’t have them available. I’m super-happy."

Liverpool's Argentian midfielder, Alexis Mac allister : 

"We are very happy because we played against a very good team, very tough, but in the end we got the win and that's the most important thing.  We are very happy because, as I say, it was a tough game and maybe in the first half they were better and had some opportunities, but (in the) second half we defended very well and we showed our mentality."

"First half we didn't realise that they were doing one-v-one (over) the whole pitch, but in the second half we learned.  We played some long balls and we put them into Darwin and Lucho in behind and that was very important and they did very well to help the team to attack and score goals."

Jurgen Klopp on Trent Alexander-Arnolds leadership skills : 

"There’s still a lot of space (to improve) but it’s outstanding already. It’s great. He enjoys it, obviously, and you could see that on the pitch today. One-nil up, he spoke to everybody without me shouting at him and telling him he has to speak and make sure we are now really compact and stuff like this. My God, what a player! Good game."

Trent Alexander-Arnold on winning the game : 

"Huge. We've got a lot of players missing today – lads on internationals, Virg missing from the squad and a lot of injuries as well. We came here with one objective – which was to win and get into the hat for the next round, and we've done that. We dug deep, two late goals. We changed things around at half-time internally and we came out and played football, created our chances. And the changes that we did make and the change in system and where players were playing really made an impact for us."

Trent Alexander-Arnold on his free kick which led to the opening goal : 

"Those ones, in-swingers, you just want to hit an area, you want to make it as difficult as possible. That's the idea. Your aim is to make it as hard as possible for them to clear the ball and knowing that a flick from one of our players [or] one of their players could potentially go in. We've hit the woodwork a couple of times in the game as well. So, we had our chances and near the end of the game we put them away and won the game."
