Several weeks ago we wrote about Salah equaling an LFC record that has stood since 1981/82. But thanks to his two goals against Brentford, Salah has now broken that record, etching his name further into Liverpool folklore.
The record in question is for 'scoring in consecutive home games at the start of a season'. Previously the record was held by Harry Chambers and John Aldridge. Chambers and Aldridge both scored in the first five home games of a season. Chambers achieved the feat in 1930/31, with Aldridge equaling the record in 1981/82.
Salah equaled the record when he scored against Nottingham Forest on the 29th October, and whilst he might not have been aware of it, his goals against Brentford means the record now belongs to him.
So far Salah has scored in each of LFC's first six home games, including :
vs AFC Bournemouth (19th August)
vs Aston Villa (3rd September)
vs West Ham (24th September)
vs Everton (21st October)
vs Nottingham Forest (29th October)
vs Brentford (12th November)
Liverpool's next home game is against Fulham, on the 3rd December, and very few people would bet against Salah extending his record with another Anfield goal.
As well as breaking the LFC record, Salah has now joined an elite group of Premier League strikers, who have also scored in their teams first six home games of a season. They include Alan Shearer (Blackburn Rovers - 1995-96), Les Ferdinand (Newcastle United - 1995-96) and Thierry Henry (Arsenal - 2004-05).
So far this season, Salah has 12 goals and 4 assists.
