A worrying story has emerged overnight, with reports in Colombia claiming the mother and father of Liverpool winger, Luis Diaz, have been kidnapped by armed gunmen.
This is a developing story, and details are still few and far between, but it appears as though a group of armed gunmen may have taken Luis Diaz's mother and father hostage in their native Colombia.
The news first broke earlier today, with the club releasing a statement saying that they were aware of a 'ongoing situation' involving the family of Liverpool winger Luis Diaz. Then, at around 1pm, when Liverpool released their team news for todays match against Nottingham Forest, it was confirmed that Diaz was not in the squad.
Speaking before the match, Liverpool Manager, Jurgen Klopp, said, "We had to obviously make a late change because of the private situation involving Luis Diaz. It's a worrying situation for all of us and it was a pretty tough night. I have never had that before. It's a new experience I never needed."
At around the same time, Colombian President - Gustavo Petro, said on social media that Diaz's mother had been found in Barrancas, but that his father was still missing.
At the time of writing (4pm on Sunday afternoon), no further information is available, and the situation remains unclear.
Liverpool FC, and the Colombian Football Association, have re-iterated their primary concern is for the welfare of the player and his family, and everyone at LFC - Back On Our Perch, hopes for a speedy resolution to this situation, with all of Diaz's family returned safe and well.
