Liverpool Football Club has won 19 League Titles, but can you name the 10 Liverpool Captains who have lifted the League Trophy?
During Liverpool's illustrious 120+ year history, the Reds have won 19 League Titles.
Starting way back in 1901-02, through the glory years of Shankly and Paisley, to the most recent Title under Jurgen Klopp in 2019-20, ten different Captains have led the Reds to glory. But can you name all ten, and which Captains have tasted success more than once?

Alex Raisbeck - Raisbeck has the honour of being the first Captain to lead Liverpool to the League Title, in 1901-02. Raisbeck Captained Liverpool for 9 years, staying with the club as it was relegated, and helping win promotion, before a second League Title followed in 1905-06.
Donald McKinlay - Liverpool had to wait 15 years for their next success, until after the First World War, and it was another Scot, Donald McKinlay who lead them to back-to-back Titles in the early 1920's.
Willie Fagan - Sadly Liverpool could not sustain their success, and it would take until after WWII before they tasted success again. Willie Fagan was the Captain this time, leading the team to glory in the first season after the War. It was to be Fagan's first and only success, and he was replaced as Captain at the end of the 1946-47 season.
Ron Yeats - A downturn in fortunes during the 1950's saw Liverpool relegated to Division Two. It was not until legendary Manager Bill Shankly arrived, that Liverpool began to taste success again. Shankly made many astute purchases as Manager, and Ron Yeats was definately one of them. Signed from Dundee Utd for £20,000, Shankly immeadiately installed the tall, powerful defender as Captain in his first season. Yeats duly helped Liverpool gain Promotion back to the First Division, before leading them to the Title in 1963-64, and again in 1965-66.
Tommy Smith - Tommy Smith was the first Englishman to lead Liverpool to the Title, achieving the feat in his second and final season as Liverpool Captain. Joining the club as a schoolboy, Smith played for Liverpool for 16 years, making over 450 appearances for the club, as a no-nonsense, tough tackling central defender. Despite his success, Shankly made the unusual decision to replace Smith as Captain, promoting a young English defender, Emlyn Hughes, to lead the team forward.
Emlyn Hughes - Shankly' decision was soon vindicated, as Emlyn Hughes became the first Liverpool Captain to win the Title 3 times. Hughes also lead Liverpool to FA Cup and European success, ensuring his place amongst the Liverpool Legends.
Phil Thompson - A Liverpool legend who lived his dream of playing and managing Liverpool, Thompson spent 13 trophy laden years at Anfield, winning the League Title and European Cup as Captain. After retiring from playing, Thompson continued his assocation with Liverpool as Coach, Assistant Manager and Caretaker Manager.
Graeme Souness - Anyone under the age of 30 might be forgiven for thinking Souness was primarily a manager and TV pundit (and not very good ones at that). But before his ill-fated spell as Liverpool Manager, Souness wowed the Anfield faithful with his incedible football skills, leading the team to three League Titles at the start of the 1980's. It was a period where Liverpool were not only the best team in England, they were best team in Europe, sweeping all before them to win back to back domestic and European titles!
Alan Hansen - Tough tackling, tough talking Scottish defender Alan Hansen took over as Captain from Graeme Souness, as Liverpool continued to dominate football until the end of the 1980's. Few could have forseen that Hansen's last Title success, in the 1989-90 season, would be the last Liverpool would win for over 30 years.
Jordan Henderson - The last Captain to lead LFC to League Title glory, Henderson also has the dubious honour of being the only Liverpool Captain to celebrate lifting the trophy in an empty stadium, as the Covid-19 Pandemic prevented Reds fans from attending the trophy presentation. In a parallel universe Henderson could have had 4 League Titles, with Liverpool missing out to Man City 3 times by a single point during Henderson's Captaincy.
