Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Andy Robertson has successfully undergone shoulder surgery, and will now begin the long road back to full fitness.
It was the news all Liverpool fans were fearing - Andy Robertson has undergone surgery to repair his dislocated right shoulder.
During his Toulouse pre-march press conference, Klopp confirmed that the surgery had gone as well as could be expected, but stopped short of putting a timeframe on the defenders return.
Whilst it is good news that the surgery was a success, Liverpool must now plan for Robertson's absense for atleast the next 3 months - and maybe longer - depending on how the rest of his rehabilitation goes. In Robertson's absense, Kostas Tsimikas will be the first choice left back, but he will need help, with games coming thick and fast over the next few months in the Premier League, Europa League and Carabao Cup.
Victory over Toulouse on Thursday, would all but secure Liverpool's place in the knock-out phase of the Europa League, and provide Klopp with the opportunity to blood some younger players at left back, resting Tsimikas, without worrying about the need to secure a victory.
Hopefully the club, or player, will provide updates on his progress in the coming weeks, but be sure to check out LFC - Back On Our Perch everyday for the latest Liverpool news stories.
