2024 : Liverpool and Newcastle served up another classic at Anfield, with the Reds winning 4 - 2. In an end-to-end game, Newcastle twice threatened to spoil the party, before Salah scored his 150th Premier League goal, to secure the win for the Reds.
2023 : Liverpool officially signed Cody Gakpo from PSV for an initial fee of £34million. The attacker would wear the no.18 shirt, previously worn by Dirk Kuyt.
2022 : The January Transfer Window opened, with Liverpool expected to strengthen the squad, as they went in search of an unprecedented quadruple.

2019 :
2018 : Burnley welcomed Liverpool to Turf Moor at the start of 2018. After Sadio Mane had given Liverpool the lead in the 61st minute, Burnley looked to have salvaged a point with an 87th-minute strike from Gudmundsson, only for Ragnor Klavan to score an unlikely winner in the 94th minute, from an Oxlade-Chamberlain free-kick. In other news, Virgil Van Dijk signed for Liverpool for a record fee of £75million.

2015 : Liverpool and Leicester City played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at Anfield on the 1st January 2015. Liverpool looked to be heading for all 3 points, after two Steven Gerrard goals gave them a 2-0 lead at half time. However, a spirited Leicester display in the second half saw them earn a point with goals from David Nugent and Jeffrey Schlupp.
2014 : Hull City were the visitors to Anfield on 1st Janaury 2014, as goals from Daniel Agger and Luis Suarez earnt the Reds a 2-0 victory. The victory was revenge for a 3-1 loss at Hull earlier in the season.

2012 :
2011 : Liverpool welcomed Bolton Wanderers to Anfield, with a 49th minute goal from Fernando Torres, and a contested 92nd minute winner from Joe Cole, ensuring the Reds got a much needed 2-1 victory. Starting the day nearer the relegation zone that the top 4, and after losing their previous game to bottom club Wolves, defeat was not an option for Liverpool, and despite long periods of frustration, Cole's late winner was met with jubilation from the 35,400 fans inside Anfield.

2008 :
2007 : Liverpool earned a rare victory over Bolton Wanderers at Anfield in front of a large crowd of 41,370. Three second half goals from Peter Crouch, Steven Gerrard and Dirk Kuyt saw the Reds home, in a era where Bolton, and their manager Sam Allardyce, had become a boogey team for Liverpool. The match also saw the return of former Red, and pantomime villain, El Hadji Diouf, after his unsavoury exit from Anfield.
2006 :
2005 : 2005 began in disappointing fashion for the Reds, as Chelsea left Anfield with a 1-0 victory courtesy of a 80th minute Joe Cole goal. Cole had been a long term target of the Reds, but Roman Abramovich's arrival as Chelsea owner, saw the Blues complete a multi-million deal for the attacking midfielder ahead of the Reds.
2004 :
2003 : Newcastle welcomed Liverpool to St James Park on the 1st January 2003. With Liverpool in a period of transition, it was not surprising that a Newcastle team containing Alan Shearer, Craig Bellamy and Lauren Robert proved too powerful for the Reds, with Robert scoring the winning goal in the 13th minute.
2002 : Liverpool welcomed Bolton Wanderers to Anfield at the start of 2002, but were unable to secure victory, despite taking the lead through a Steven Gerrard goal in the 50th minute. Bolton striker Kevin Nolan earned Bolton a point with a 78th minute equaliser. A crowd of 43,710 fans were in attendance.
2001 : Liverpool began 2001 with a home victory over Southampton at Anfield. In front of 38,484 fans, goals from Liverpool Legend Steven Gerrard and a rare Markus Babbel goal was enough to secure a 2-1 win.

1998 :
1997 : 1997 didn't start well for the Reds, as they fell to a 1-0 loss against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. In front of just over 28,000 fans, a solitary goal from from Roberto Di Matteo - just before half time - was enough to condemn the Reds to defeat.
1996 : Liverpool started 1996 in perfect fashion, with an entertaining 4-2 victory over Nottingham Forest at Anfield. In front of over 39,000 fans, Liverpool emerged victorious with goals from Robbie Fowler (2), Stan Collymore and a Colin Cooper own goal.
1995 :
1994 : Liverpool secured a 2-1 victory over Ipswitch Town, away at Portman Road, on the first day of 1994. In front of a capacity crowd of 22, 355, goals from Neil Ruddock and Ian Rush were enough to secure the Reds first away victory in the Premier League since August 1993.
1993 :
The football landscape changes forever as the Premier League is founded. Created by the top 20 clubs in the English First Division - including Liverpool, the breakaway league takes advantage of enormous television rights deals, to attract the best players and managers to the English game.
