2022 : Liverpool beat AC Milan in the final game of the Dubai Super Cup series, a mini tournament organised to help teams regain their fitness during the 6 week break for the Qatar 2022 World Cup. Liverpool had lost their first game in the series 3-1 to Lyon, but put in a much improved performance to run out 4-1 winners against Milan. Salah, Thiago and 2 for Darwin Nunez completed the scoring for Liverpool. The Reds return to competitive action on the 22nd December 2022 in the 3rd round of the League Cup against Man City.
2021 : Liverpool came from behind to defeat Newcastle United 3-1 at Anfield, as the Reds recorded their 8th straight victory in all competitions. Despite going behind in the first half, Liverpool rallied to lead 2-1 at half time, thanks to goals from Diogo Jota and Mohamad Salah. Liverpool secured the victory in the 87th minute when Alexander-Arnold struck a 25-yard rocket. The result was even more impressive given that Fabinho, Curtis Jones and Virgil Van Dijk were all missing after testing positive for Covid-19 earlier in the day.
2020 : Liverpool beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1, thanks to a 90th minute header by Roberto Firmino. The game at Anfield was played in front of just 2,000 fans, as Covid restrictions limited the number of tickets that could be sold. After taking the lead through Mohamad Salah in the 26th minute, Tottenham hit back through Son Heung-Min in the 33rd minute. The game looked to be heading for a draw, before Roberto Firmino popped up with the winning header from an Andy Robertson cross.
2019 :
2018 : Liverpool secured a 3-1 victory over arch-enemies Manchester United at Anfield, thanks for goals from Sadio Mane and Xherdan Shaqiri. In front of a packed home crowd, the Reds recorded the victory needed to return them back to the top of the Premier League table.
