On This Day - LFC History - 3rd September

2023 : Liverpool produced a fantastic display to beat Aston Villa 3-0 at Anfield.  Dominik Szobozslai got the Reds off to the perfect start, scoring his first Liverpool goal after just 3 minutes.  A Matty Cash own goal gave Liverpool a 2-0 lead at half-time before Mo Salah added a third in the 55th minute.  The goal was the 150th game in which Salah has scored for Liverpool.  The match was also Jurgen Klopp's 300th game in charge at Anfield.

2022 : Liverpool and Everton played out a goalless draw in the 241st Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park.  The match was low on quality and summed up the poor form that both teams were in at the time.

1892 : Liverpool FC played its first ever match against Higher Walton at Anfield.  Despite their lack of experience, the Reds won 8-0 thanks to goals from Cameron (2), McBride, McQue (2), McVean and Smith (2).  A crowd of just 200 people were in attendance.
