Liverpool in secret Bellingham talks with Borussia Dortmund – Klopp is a big fan
According to several ‘insider reports’ Liverpool are in secret talks with Borussia Dortmund over the transfer of midfielder Jude Bellingham.
Before Reds fans get too carried away though, the reports suggest that Liverpool are looking to tie up a deal for the youngster to join next summer.
Having already banked a sizeable chunk of money from the sale of Haaland to Man City, Dortmund were never likely to allow their other prize asset to leave this summer. However, a deal that allows Dortmund to keep their player for one more season, and guarantees Liverpool get their man next year without a bidding war, looks like a good solution for all involved. It’s a trick Liverpool used to sign Naby Keita from RB Leipzig and its one they would be happy to use again.
Klopp is a big Bellingham fan
Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of the young English talent, and with Liverpool needing midfield reinforcements in the near future, securing his signature would be a massive coup. Bellingham is very much an FSG type of player. Young and talented with almost no limit on his potential, he would also command a massive resale value if he were to leave Anfield later in his career.
Bellingham would almost certainly jump at the chance of moving to Anfield and working with Klopp, and just as he has in the England team, Bellingham would be the natural successor to Jordan Henderson.
Let’s hope that this story has real substance and isn’t just wishful thinking, as a Liverpool side that includes Bellingham, Elliott, Carvalho, Arnold, Konate, Nunez and Diaz would keep Liverpool competing for years to come.
