Oxlade-Chamberlain injured again during Crystal Palace match, now sweating on start of season

Liverpool midfielder Oxlade-Chamberlain is once again facing a spell on the sidelines after picking up another injury in the pre-season game against Crystal Palace.  The reds midfielder played for 44 minutes against the Eagles but was forced off the pitch with a hamstring injury.

Speaking after the match Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp stated,

“That’s not cool.  We don’t know exactly how bad it is, but he felt it and that’s not good.  Of course it’s very disappointing for us because Oxlade trained all the time really well since the pre-season started.

It happened obviously with Ox in the past when it gets more intense and something can happen.  Now this is just a muscle thing and that’s OK. We had worse situations, so I’m OK with it.

I don’t know exactly how long it will take but he will be back and then it’s all fine. He is obviously a top-class player and he can help us.”

Klopp and Oxlade-Chamberlain will now be sweating over whether the player will be fit for the start of the season.  Whilst not a first team regular anymore, Oxlade-Chamberlain is still a very good footballer and with the upcoming season compressed to make space for the Qatar World Cup in November and December, Klopp will want all his players fit and available as the games come thick and fast.

Oxlade-Chamberlain will now undergo further tests back on Merseyside to discover the extent of the injury and plan a course of treatment.
