Liverpool top of the table after routine win over Wolves

Arne Slot's Liverpool sit top of the Premier League table after 6 games, following their 2 - 1 victory over Wolves on Saturday night.

Goals from Ibrahima Konate and Mo Salah saw the Reds to victory at Molyneux, and barring a massive win for Aston Villa over Ipswich, the Reds will end September top of the pile.

It wasn't their best performance of the season, but the Red's 2 - 1 victory over Wolves at Molyneux last night sees Liverpool top of the Premier League table at the end of September.

Following Manchester City's draw with Newcastle earlier on Saturday, Liverpool knew that a win over Wolves would see them leapfrog their biggest rivals to the top of the table, with goals from Ibrahima Konate and Mo Salah ensuring all three points returned to Anfield.

Arne Slot winning over the doubters

The result sees Liverpool top of the table for the first time this season, and barring Aston Villa scoring 8 goals against Ipswich later today, means the Reds will stay top as we head into October.

It is also further proof that Arne Slot has what it takes to succeed at Anfield, after replacing club legend Jurgen Klopp in the summer, though Klopp continues to deserve praise for leaving his successor with such an exciting and well-balanced squad.

Not at their best, but Reds still too strong for Wolves

Wolves are rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table after a poor start to the season, but the Midlands team have proven difficult opponents in recent seasons, and so it proved again last night, although Liverpool were their own worst enemy at times, wasting opportunities and allowing Wolves back into the match with some comical defending between goalscorer Konate and goalkeeper Alisson.

Thankfully that error did not prove costly, and whilst no one will put this match in their Top 10 list at the end of the season, the Reds got the job done and picked up another 3 points along the way.

Arne Slot enjoying life on the road

The result not only sees Liverpool top of the table, but it also means Arne Slot has won all three of his away fixtures in the league this season:

2 - 0 at Ipswich
3 - 0 at Man United
2 - 1 at Wolves.

Add in the 3 - 1 victory over AC Milan in the Champions League and Liverpool are proving formidable opponents away from Anfield, which is exactly what is needed if the Reds are to challenge for silverware come the end of the season.
