Aston Villa vs Liverpool preview: kick-off, team news, TV channel
Jurgen Klopp takes charge of his final away game in the Premier League on Monday evening, as Liverpool travel to Villa Park to face in-form Aston Villa.
By the time Liverpool play, both Manchester City and Arsenal will have played, and the Reds will likely be mathematically out of the title race, but Klopp will want his players to end the season on a high, and gain as many points as possible, as the club looks towards next season, under new head coach Arne Slot.
Jurgen Klopp has just two games left as Liverpool's Manager before he retires at the end of the season, with the first of those being a tricky away game at Aston Villa on Monday night.
Several weeks ago people were looking at this fixture as the final hurdle to Liverpool winning the title, but after their recent run of poor results, the Reds have seen their title challenge disappear. Indeed, by the time the Red's kick-off on Monday evening, the title probably be mathematically impossible.
Add to this the fact that the Reds have already qualified for next season's Champions League, and the game has all the hallmarks of an end-of-season dead rubber, but Klopp will want to end his time at Anfield on a high, and the club will need to build momentum ahead of a huge summer.

Last time the teams met
Liverpool earned a surprisingly easy 3 - 0 victory over Villa at the start of September 2023, with goals from Szobnoszlai, Salah, and a Matty Cash own goal giving Liverpool the three points. The last time the teams played at Villa Park was in the 2022/23 season, when Liverpool ran out 3 - 1 winners, with Stefan Bajcetic scoring his first goal for the club.
Team News
Liverpool:
Jurgen Klopp has an almost fully fit squad to choose from, with only Diogo Jota, Joel Matip, Thiago, and Ben Doak unavailable. Of those, Jota is the only player with a possibility of playing again this season, with Thiago and Matip likely to have played their last games for the club before they leave the club on free transfers this summer.
Aston Villa:
In contrast, Unai Emery has eight first-team players unavailable, including Boubacar Kamara, Emiliano Buendia, Tyrone Mings, Jaob Ramsey, and Nicolo Zaniolo.
Predicted Liverpool Lineup
Jurgen Klopp will use his preferred 4-3-3 formation.
Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk (C), Quansah, Robertson, Endo, Mac Allister, Elliott, Diaz, Gakpo, Salah
Liverpool returned to form last Sunday with an emphatic 4 - 2 victory over Tottenham at Anfield, and I see no reason why Klopp needs to change his Starting XI. Elliott and Gakpo were both excellent, while Mo Salah looked more like his old self, after his recent bust-up with Klopp. That means Nunez, Szoboszlai, and Konate will again have to make do with a place on the bench.
Liverpool Score Prediction
End-of-season games tend to be high-scoring, and with Liverpool playing with more freedom after securing Champions League qualification, I can see plenty of goals in this game.
Liverpool to win 4 - 3
