Liverpool's six remaining Premier League games

Liverpool have six games left in the 2023-24 season, starting with a difficult trip to Craven Cottage on Sunday.  LFC - Back On Our Perch runs through the remaining games between now and the end of the season.

With the disappointment of Thursday's Europa League exit still fresh in everyone's minds, Jurgen Klopp must find a way to galvanise his players for their six remaining Premier League matches, with the Reds still in with a great chance of lifting the title come May 19th.

The first of those six games takes place tomorrow, with the Reds traveling to Craven Cottage to face Fulham, before games against Everton and West Ham in April, followed by games against Tottenham, Aston Villa, and Wolverhampton Wanderers in May.

Join us as we preview each fixture, and discuss how the Reds can re-ignite their title challenge.

Fulham vs Liverpool - 21st April 2024
Venue: Craven Cottage
Previous results this season: Liverpool 4 - 3 Fulham (in the PL), Liverpool 3 - 2 Fulham (Carabao Cup Semi-Finals)

The games continue to come thick and fast for Klopp and his players, with Sunday's game against Fulham just 72 hours after the Europa League Quarter-Final in Atalanta.  Despite this, Liverpool's players need to rediscover their form as quickly as possible, to ensure they get the three points needed to remain in the title race.  Manchester City don't play in the league this weekend, as they are in FA Cup action, while Arsenal are in action on Saturday, with a difficult trip to Wolves.  If Arsenal drops further points, and the Reds win tomorrow, then they could return to the top of the table by Sunday evening.

Everton vs Liverpool - 24th April 2024
Venue: Goodison Park
Previous results this season: Liverpool 2 - 0 Everton (in the PL)

An away derby against Everton would not be top of Jurgen Klopp's wishlist, but given Liverpool's recent poor form, a derby battle against our city rivals might be just what the Reds need to sort themselves out.  Liverpool has a good recent record against Everton, both home and away, while Everton are in a terrible run of form themselves, losing their last game 6 - 0  to Chelsea.  Sean Dyche's side are also battling FFP breaches and points deductions,  so Jurgen Klopp's team will never have a better chance to secure a derby victory and continue their hunt for the Premier League title.

West Ham United vs Liverpool - 27th of April 2024
Venue: The London Stadium
Previous results this season: Liverpool 3 - 1 West Ham (in the PL), Liverpool 5 - 1 West Ham (in the Carabao Cup Quarter-Finals)

West Ham is another team that Liverpool have already met several times this season, with the Reds winning 3 - 1 at Anfield back in September, as well as thrashing the Hammers 5 - 1 in the Carabao Cup Quarter-Finals.  The upcoming game at the London Stadium is sure to be much harder, but the earlier victories should give Klopp and his players increased confidence going into this game.  The same weekend, Arsenal faces a North London derby against Tottenham, while City travels to Nottingham Forest, where former Red Divock Origi could do us a massive favour, by scoring against our title rivals.

Liverpool vs Tottenham - 5th of May 2024
Venue: Anfield
Previous results this season: Tottenham 2 - 1 Liverpool (in the PL)

Liverpool will have all the extra motivation they need when they face Tottenham at Anfield in May, with the Luis Diaz 'offside' goal probably the worst refereeing mistake in recent memory.  The fact that Liverpool also had Curtis Jones sent off, and conceded a last-minute own goal to lose the game, will only add to the player's determination to put the record straight.  Tottenham celebrated the victory like they had won the league, so expect plenty of over-the-top celebrations from Klopp and co. if Liverpool do win this one.  The same weekend Arsenal face Bournemouth at home, while City has a home match against Wolves.

Aston Villa vs Liverpool - 13th of May 2024
Venue: Villa Park
Previous results this season: Liverpool 3 - 0 Aston Villa (in the PL)

Assuming Liverpool wins the four games mentioned above, the trip to Villa Park in May could well decide the destination of the title, with Manchester City facing a tough away game at Fulham, and Arsenal an even tougher trip to Old Trafford in the days before the Reds play.  City then also play the day after Liverpool (they have a game in hand due to FA Cup commitments), when they travel to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in what looks to be their most difficult remaining fixture.  It's vital, therefore, that Liverpool finds a way to beat Villa, to put as much pressure as possible on City ahead of the Tottenham game.

Liverpool vs Wolves - 19th May 2024
Venue: Anfield
Previous result this season: Wolves 1 - 3 Liverpool (in the PL)

Liverpool's final game of the season is at home to Wolves, in what could prove to be the ultimate send-off for Jurgen Klopp.  Our Legendary German manager will depart Anfield after the game, and what better way to end his 9 years on Merseyside than with another League Title?  Wolves have often proved tricky opponents for the Reds, but assuming the title is still up for grabs, Liverpool will be the clear favourites for the three points.  Will that prove enough to secure title number 20?  Only time will tell....
