LFC to mark 35th Anniversary of the Hillsborough Tragedy

April 15th, 2024 will mark the 35th Anniversary of the Hillsborough Tragedy, where 97 Liverpool fans lost their lives.  Ahead of today's game against Crystal Palace, Liverpool FC will pay tribute to the 97.

April 15th, 1989, is a day nobody connected to Liverpool Football Club will ever forget. Over 20,000 Reds fans traveled to Hillsborough for the FA Cup Semi-Final. 97 of them would never return.

Ahead of today's game against Crystal Palace at Anfield, Liverpool will pay tribute to the 97 souls who lost their lives on that fateful day, with a minute's silence before the match.

A similar minute's silence was held before the most recent Liverpool FC Women's match against Manchester City, and the Liverpool Youth teams will also be paying their respects.

Although the club no longer holds a memorial service at Anfield, everyone connected with the club and city will fall silent at 3:06 pm tomorrow, to mark the time at which the referee stopped the match, and a belated evacuation of the stands began.

We will have more articles and information on the Tragedy tomorrow, but in the meantime, everyone at  LFC - Back On Our Perch offers our heartfelt condolences to everyone affected by the events of that tragic day.
