No one moment wins the league title, but this win will certainly go a long way to deciding where the title might end up, as Liverpool secures a dramatic 99th-minute winner at the City Ground!
Liverpool offered little in the way of an attacking threat in the first half, although Bobby Clark narrowly shot over the bar from 20 yards, before he had another effort blocked in the box, with Luis Diaz prodding the rebound wide. At the other end, Caoimhin Kelleher continued his excellent form, producing a fine one-on-one save to deny Elanga after the forward had been put clean through on goal. Divock Origi, starting against his former club for the first time, was a constant menace in the first half and produced several driving runs that caused the Liverpool defence problems.
Liverpool improved as the half wore on, and were beginning to build a bit of momentum as half-time approached, though the teams went into the break at 0 - 0.
Into the second half, Liverpool began to show more attacking intent and were boosted by the return of Wataru Endo and Darwin Nunez on 60 minutes. Nunez was quickly into the action, hitting the side netting after only being on the pitch for four minutes. However, it was Forest who should have taken the lead one minute later, when Elanga pulled a shot wide from 12 yards.
As the match wore on, the weather conditions began to deteriorate, with heavy rain and wind making free-flowing football difficult. As the game entered the final 15 minutes, Klopp brought on Szoboszlai for Elliott, as the Reds searched for a winner to extend their lead at the top of the table.
As the game entered the final few minutes, Klopp threw on youngster Jayden Danns, and he had a fantastic shout for a penalty when he was wrestled to the ground by a Forest defender. VAR checked the challenge but deemed it fair, even though similar tackles are penalised every week.
As the game ticked over to 90 minutes, the fourth official showed eight minutes of added time. Liverpool continued to probe and scored a dramatic last-minute winner when Alexis Mac Allister delivered a lovely cross for Darwin Nunez to glance home and send the Liverpool fans into delirium behind the goal!
