It's been a difficult start to 2024 for Liverpool FC Women, but the Reds secured a much-needed victory earlier today, with a tough 1 - 0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion at Broadfield Stadium.
The result helps Liverpool consolidate fifth place in the Barclays WSL table and is the first time the Reds have tasted success in the league in 2024.
Ceri Holland was the hero for Liverpool, as her second-half strike was enough to secure the win, despite a late onslaught from the home side. The goal came as a result of Liverpool's high press, with Melissa Lawley closing down the Brighton keeper, who could only pass the ball straight to Holland, who coolly finished to give the Reds the lead.
Sadly Holland was sent off in the 94th minute, for a second bookable offence, but it did not affect the outcome of the match.
Liverpool Women are now only two points behind Manchester United in 4th place and will be looking to finish the season strongly.
