Liverpool have won the FA Cup a total of 8 times....

1964-65
Liverpool's first victory in the competition came in the sixties.  Bill Shankly was the manager, as the Reds defeated Leeds United 2 - 1 after extra time.

1973-74
Liverpool's had to wait nearly 10 years to win another FA Cup, but in 1974 they defeated Newcastle United 3 - 0 at Wembley to lift the trophy for the second time.  Shankly was once again Liverpool manager.

1985-86
The 1986 FA Cup triumph was especially pleasing for Reds fans, as Everton were the opposition.  Liverpool won 3 - 1, in front of 98,000 fans.

1988-89
Everton were once again the opponents in the 1989 Final, with Liverpool triumphing 3 - 2 after extra time.  The final was played just 5 weeks after the Hillsborough Disaster.

1991-92
Graeme Souness led Liverpool to FA Cup in 1992 (his only piece of silverware as Reds manager), with a 2 - 0 victory over Sunderland.  Steve McManaman was voted 'man of the match'.

2000-01
2001 was a remarkable season for Liverpool and manager Gerard Houllier, as the Reds won a Cup Treble.  Michael Owen scored two late goals for Liverpool in the FA Cup Final, as Liverpool came from behind to beat Arsenal 2 - 1.

2005-06
2006 will be remembered as the Steven Gerrard Final, after the Reds Captain famously equalised with a 30 yeard effort in the final few minutes, to take the game into extra time.  Liverpool eventually won 3 - 1 on penalties.

2021-22
Liverpool's most recent FA Cup victory was also won on penalties, this time against Chelsea.  After neither side could score during normal time or extra time, the Reds eventually won 6 - 5, with Kostas Tsimikas hitting the winning penalty.
